WLCI Advertising and Design School takes a look at the
“Doodle Art” that we find everywhere nowadays, on magazine covers, as a pop
art, graffiti, illustrations, web, as well as the much appreciated ‘Art’
pieces. It is a movement with the student’s community and students of all ages
love to doodle provided they find any plain surface to express their art!
Everyone who has creativity can doodle and create an art-work and ‘Google’ has
made them famous by customizing their logo on special occasions and creating
amazing ‘Doodle art’.
Where did it all start?
In 1972 Glenn Anderson hit on the idea of colouring a ‘Black and White’
drawing called "Ecology", and recognized that the poster, partnered
with the vibrant colours of felt pens provided immediate creative satisfaction.
Putting the two together in the highly recognizable tube proved to be the
beginning of one of Canada's great business success stories. This print alone
would sell 1,000,000 copies around the world. The family trademarked and
produced the DoodleArt kits in Vancouver, Canada.
Throughout the next five years many new titles were introduced and received worldwide recognition during the expansion of sales into 16 countries that included the U.K., Europe, Japan, Mexico and Australia.
Google and Doodle Art-
The internet giant “Google” started experimenting with doodle by making special logos for special occasions like holidays, birthdays of famous people and major events. The special logos were initially designed by Dennis Hwang and became famous worldwide as Google Doodles!
Doodle Art has become an ‘Art’ movement by its own right and
with no age bar people like to doodle and express their creativity and in turn
create exceptional pieces of ART!
